Closing the DBS Loophole: Why Civil Harassment Orders Must Appear on Enhanced DBS Checks
Enhanced DBS checks are widely relied upon as a cornerstone of safeguarding, yet they currently omit certain civil court outcomes designed to protect victims from repeated harassment. This article examines the safeguarding gap created by the non-disclosure of civil harassment orders and court undertakings, explains why these outcomes matter in child and vulnerable-adult contexts, and considers the case for urgent reform to ensure that safeguarding decisions are informed, proportionate, and grounded in reality.
